About the event

While we cannot do a hands-on physical demonstration online, we will explain the science and strategy behind permanently joining two glass cores.

We want to help port managers and engineers understand exactly what it takes to maintain and repair a resilient network in the field.

What we will discuss:

  • The science of splicing: How specialized equipment aligns and melts glass to prevent signal loss.

  • Environmental challenges: Why dust, wind, and moisture in a port are the biggest threats to a repair.

  • Maintenance planning: Understanding the time, skill, and tools needed to fix broken cables so you can plan your operations better.
