About the event

RF Engineer Academy

"The world is wireless. Someone has to build it. Become an RF Engineer."

You passed the board exam. You understand electromagnetics in theory.

But can you answer this in a technical interview: "How would you plan a 5G site cluster for a high-density area like BGC to ensure deep indoor coverage?"

Most ECE graduates and young professionals struggle to translate academic knowledge into the practical skills demanded by telco operators (Smart, Globe, DITO) and vendors (Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei).

The RF Engineer Academy bridges that gap.

This is not an academic lecture series.

It is a 2-week intensive professional track led by industry practitioners.

We focus on the actual workflows, calculation methods, tools, and decision-making processes used by RF Engineers in the field today.

WEEK 1: THE FOUNDATION & THE BLUEPRINT

Module 01: RF Propagation Principles & Link Budget Analysis

We move beyond "free space path loss."

You will learn the physics of how signals actually behave in urban environments, battling diffraction, reflection, and fading.

We will deconstruct the Link Budget, the fundamental calculation used to determine if a signal will successfully travel from the tower to the user's phone.

Module 02: Wireless Access Technologies (LTE & 5G NR)

Stop memorizing acronyms and start understanding architecture. We dive deep into the air interface of 4G LTE and 5G New Radio (NR).

You will learn about OFDMA, Resource Blocks, 5G numerology, and why beamforming changes the game for network capacity.

Module 03: Radio Network Planning & Site Configuration

This is where theory becomes a map.

You will learn practical site selection strategies, how to determine nominal cell radii, and the critical importance of PCI (Physical Cell ID) planning to prevent network collisions. We will use practical tools to visualize coverage.

WEEK 2: OPTIMIZATION & REAL-WORLD TOOLS

Module 04: Traffic Theory & Network Dimensioning

A network with a great signal can still fail if it's overloaded.

You will learn traffic engineering principles (Erlangs) and how to convert population density into required network throughput (Mbps).

We will calculate the required capacity for real-world scenarios, such as a packed concert venue or a high-traffic corridor.

Module 05: RF Optimization & KPI Analysis

The network is live, but is it working?

You will learn the methodology of Drive Testing and Post-Processing.

We will teach you how to analyze critical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as RSRP, SINR, and Drop Call Rate to diagnose issues such as pilot pollution and passive intermodulation (PIM).

Module 06: Industry Tools & Career Practicum

We step away from the slides for a live demonstration of industry-grade equipment.

You will see how a real Spectrum Analyzer is used to hunt interference.

The course concludes with a practical workshop on how to translate these new skills into your CV to pass technical interviews for telco roles.

THE TOOLS WE USE

We don't just talk about tools; we demonstrate them. This course features live interaction with:

  • Rohde & Schwarz FPH Handheld Spectrum Analyzer (Live signal analysis)

  • Google Earth Pro (Practical site planning)

  • Cloud RF and QGIS (Introduction to professional planning software workflows)

  • Drive Test Data Logs (Real-world post-processing examples)

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

  • ECE Undergraduates (3rd-5th Year): Gain a massive advantage before graduation.

  • Fresh Graduates & Board Passers: Stop applying with a generic CV. Get job-ready skills.

  • Cadet Engineers & Young Professionals: Accelerate your promotion path by mastering network design principles.

  • Career Shifters: IT or Network professionals looking to move into the wireless domain.
